He has worked on numerous leading, nationally advertised brands such as Coca Cola, Taco Bell, Chevrolet, Dial Soap, Kraft, Clairol, Excedrin, Oil of Olay, Dash, Certs, Mag-Lite, Transamerica, Becks and Pabst beers.
Randall has won awards at virtually every post he’s held. He received international acclaim for his role as Creative Director of the surreal campaign for Flying Tigers air cargo.
After being appointed Creative Director of Asher/Gould, Randall was instrumental in remodeling the Los Angeles shop from a local, retail agency with low visibility, to an award-winning one handling national brands such as Pabst.
Having written, art directed and produced over 800 Consumer, Retail and Direct Response Commercials, he prides himself at being the consummate creative person. He is well versed in all communication media, including print advertising, TV and radio commercials, new media (Web, interactive, etc.), collateral, outdoor, POS and sales promotion.
Prior to being a part of Richmond West Productions, Randall has worked as a hands-on Creative Director for a select number of ad agencies and advertisers, including major entertainment companies.
A member of the Art Director’s Club of New York, and a former instructor at the prestigious Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, Randall lives in the Hollywood Hills with his wife, Renee. His son, Max, a recent graduate of Haverford College, is now teaching English in South Korea.
Randall has worked on advertising and marketing projects for various non-profits, including, the California Museum of Science & Industry, Gilda’s Club, Zink the Zebra, CorpCare and the Del Rio Foundation, among others.
A former City Council appointee to the Hollywood Citizen’s Advisory Committee and Mayoral advisor to the Los Angeles Department of Transportation as well as a former board member of the Whitley Heights Civic Association, Scherrer has been active in community affairs. He has been a certified skipper with Pacific Sailing.
Randall has always had eclectic interests. He won national awards for his art, beginning in high school. As a musician, he recorded an album of his own songs. As a photographer, he has sold numerous prints. As an inveterate, science devotee, he has taken courses (for fun) at UCLA, including attending a series of lectures by Nobel laureate, Murray Gell-Mann, on subatomic particle theory; genetic engineering; plant identification; astronomy – and not to mention sailing courses, in conjunction with the Pacific Sailing Academy, where he was taught vigorous sailing techniques by a former U.S. Naval Academy instructor.
Randall is a founding member of The Planetary Society.
